Role Overview

As a Financial Representative, you will join a team dedicated to helping individuals and businesses reach their financial goals through customized insurance solutions and planning. The position focuses on building long-term client relationships, understanding unique needs, and delivering tailored financial strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client consultations to understand financial goals, aspirations, and concerns
  • Develop comprehensive financial plans covering investments, insurance, and retirement
  • Recommend and implement insurance strategies to protect assets and income
  • Provide ongoing support by monitoring plans and adjusting strategies as circumstances change
  • Expand the client base through networking, referrals, community involvement, and professional associations

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience in financial services, insurance, or business development is beneficial but not required.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, analytical thinking, and the ability to establish trust with clients.
  • Licenses: Necessary licenses such as Series 6, 63, and state insurance licenses are required; training and sponsorship are available.

Meet Our Local Leaders

Matt Schulte — Managing Director
Tenure with Northwestern Mutual exceeds 25 years, including 13 years in the role of Managing Director. His career with NM spans most of his adult life, beyond college. He enjoys serving people, working with numbers, and spending time with his wife, Keri, and their four teenage children. Outside of work, he likes hunting, fishing, and life on the 43-acre family farm.

Kinsey Meyer — Development Director
With NM for over six years, Kinsey brings experience from Iowa State University and a background in retail clothing. She previously ran Miss Meyer’s Clothing Consignment. Kinsey values staying active through running, biking, and hiking with her Corgi, Cash, while cherishing time with family and friends and building strong relationships.

Lexie Meyer — Financial Advisor
Part of the NM team since April 2021, Lexie has background in agriculture, assisting dairy farmers with herd record management. Her passions include spending time with her two young boys and husband, who trains horses, and enjoying farm life. She loves trail riding, summer days along the Mississippi River, staying active, and reading fiction.

Dusty Jentz — Financial Advisor
With NM since May 2016, Dusty has worked in four NM offices including Ames, Des Moines, Minneapolis, and Dubuque. He grew up on a family farm and was an athlete prior to transitioning to finance. He is married to Carli since 2017 and enjoys time with their son, family farming, disc golf, and following high-level sports, especially Cowboys football.

Jacob Kluesner — Financial Advisor
Interned with NM in August 2016 and joined full-time in January 2018. He brings extensive engineering experience, including at John Deere, and worked as a finance manager at a car dealership before choosing NM full-time after graduation. He values time with his large family, partner, and their children, along with their two Labrador retrievers. He enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and following college and professional sports, with a passion for cars, particularly trucks and sports cars.
